This sweet home-away-from-home in the heart of St Ives makes the perfect bolthole for couples looking for a traditional Cornish getaway. In the evenings, return to your cosy bolthole to cook up a storm in the stylish kitchen, followed by a movie night on the sofa.

The ground-floor apartment is in a quaint fisherman’s cottage. However, once inside, you’ll discover a sleek and stylish living space, with contemporary furniture and accessories. The spacious lounge/kitchen/diner is bright and airy, with a sumptuous sofa to snuggle up on to watch the Smart TV and a cute dining table by the window for sharing romantic dinners for two. When it’s time for bed, retire to the relaxing double bedroom, which has a handy en-suite shower room. There is no outside space with this property, but with the harbour and sandy beaches within 500 metres, you’ll have plenty of scenic spots to stretch your legs and fill your lungs with sea air.

The cottage is set in the town’s old fishing quarter, and you’ll be surrounded by a fabulous selection of independent restaurants, many serving delicious, fresh seafood. A short stroll from the cottage brings you to the historic harbour (500 metres), where you can catch boat trips to go wildlife watching along the coast or visit Seal Island to marvel at the colony of grey seals. There’s also a lovely beach here, which is popular with bathers. Other nearby beaches include Porthgwidden and Porthmeor, both within 500 metres.

Whilst this flat is perfect for two people, the noise from upstairs was unbearable. You could hear every footstep and the people upstairs really did like to get their steps in! They just seemed to walk up and down and up and down. Don't know if they ever sat down. Drove us mad in the end. The flat was modern and newly renovated. That was fine. However, the noise from upstairs was unbearable. There were children running around the property upstairs from 6am every morning and although this isnt an issue with this property, more sound proofing within the suspended ceiling could easily be done. Plaster started to fall off the ceilingRead more in the bedroom because the vibration was so bad. I believe the owner should make a note of the noise when advertising this property as we arent the first people to make them aware of this issue. Hide

Lovely cottage great location, can be a bit noisy if someone staying upstairs walking around luckily they were only there one night of our stay. Would have been nice to have a welcome pack as no tea coffee or milk provided.

Porthia Flat is in the perfect location and we loved our time there, so I would highly recommend this property to anyone who knows and loves St Ives and wants to be amongst the artists and Porthmeor and Porthgwidden beaches. If you are over 6ft tall its not suitable especially the shower. Noticed need to be placed in the cottage above as extremely noisy- unbearable at times, quoting about respecting the flat below. Fabulous location in such a lovely place. St ives is great. Lots of cafes, shops and bars. Loved visiting the Barbara Hepworth museum. Only downside was parking. We were v near a carpark but could never find a free place. In the end we parked about a mile away at the leisure centre. This wasnt ideal as it was quite a walk there and back. Porthia flat is a perfect place for one or two people to stay. The cottage is in a very good location, it's spacious and tidy, apart from ensuite of which needs an update, unfortunately we had noisy tenants above us which wasn't very nice. It's a very busy road with lots of comings and goings.

This is our first time staying at Porthia flat and on Island road, having visited St Ives for many years. The accommodation is lovely, and perfect size for 2 (& dog), with all you'd need for a comfortable holiday. The electrical equipment all looks quite new and clean, Smart Tv in front room and bedroom, microwave, Oven, Fridge, with enough room thRead moreroughout to not feel cramped. The Bathroom is quite tired, and could do with an update. Some tiles look to be coming away from the walls, some of the fixtures are starting to rust, and some mould around the grout and curtain rail. I am 6ft 2" and cannot stand up fully in the shower by approximately 1 inch (rest of the bathroom is fine) as my head is on the shower ceiling, meaning the shower head is face height. There is also a small step out of the shower which is not big enough for a towel, so always wet/slippery when showering, which some may struggle with. However the water was always hot when required, easy to use, sink and toilet were clean. We found the front door lock to be intermittent and took several attempts for the barrel to actually engage and lock the door from both directions. We also found Island road to be very busy with people on foot, and vehicles up and down most of the time. Our first couple of days we never really noticed anyone above, but I think they may have changed over half way through as it got louder and more noticeable towards the end of the week. All in all, I would give 8/10 and definitely recommend Porthia flat to couples wanting to get away. Hide

The cottage has very low ceilings and definitely not suitable for anyone over 6feet tall. I'm only 5 ft 3 inches and I could touch the ceiling. No windows that open so I had to leave the front door open which isn't ideal if you have a dog because cars and vehicles are driving pass constantly.
