The Staff from Lanhams have a practice
run on Carbis Bay Beach
for the St Ives Raft Race.
And now for the real thing, each raft has
to paddle across the harbour, pick up their mermaid,
paddle to the other
pier & collect a token, then paddle back to the start to finish.
This year Lanhams entered a team for the
very first time, with raft made by the staff
(water bottles, wood and string) and with people from every department
on the raft,
with our mermaid Simon
(check out the stubble)

Raft in the water, watch out for the
crocodiles & sharks

AND OFF

Heading for the Lifeboat Slipway to
collect Simon our mermaid, it already
seemed to be an awful long way on a raft made of water bottles, wood &
rope
(with a few rubber ducks & balloons for decoration) with homemade
paddles

Help our lovely mermaid onto the raft

Watch out for The Pirates on the way to
Smeaton's Pier

Then the big push for home, minding the
other boats on the way

In the end we managed to finish, without
sinking and not last,
sixth out of nine wasn't bad for a first attempt.
Now for next year ......
