April 2007

A testing St Ives Sailing Club race in
strong and gusting winds at the end of April.
The Stratos in the foreground (645) raced passed the capsized Laser
using it's
big gennaker for extra speed, but regretted the decision to use it
moments later.

After two legs where the gennaker was
used effectively, this third leg proved too much,
and unable to get the big sail down properly, the result in this gust of
wind wind was predictable

Down ...

but not out - up on the dagger board &
PULL ...

and up she comes

and off we go again, the second of our three capsizes for the day out of
the way.
Pictures by Barry Hall (from Lanhams & not on the boat that
day),
crewed by Derek Hall (from Lanhams & on the dagger board)
and Simon Ashmore, and helmed that time by Mark Paxton.
The four are co-owners of the boat, soon to be officially named 'Red
Oktober'
